Need Some Ebay Ideas

Need Some Ebay Ideas

Ok, so I been an ebay seller/buyer since 1999. I sold a little bit of everything over the years, ranging from extra things that we don need to personalized candy wrappers that I made, to things I bought cheap and re sold on ebay.

Now that the holidays are fast approaching, I want to sell SOMETHING on ebay to make some extra money for Christmas shopping and birthday gifts for my hubby and son who both have birthdays coming up. But, I out of ideas of stuff to sell, and out of things to sell as well.

My ideal situation would be to create something, some kind of arts crafts type project to sell. Something that would be cheap to make, but that I could sell for a nice profit, but I out of ideas. I used to pick these up at auctions small ones, not ones that dealers would frequent for peanuts and sell for top dollar. I could get a Nazi flag for $20 $25 and sell them for $300 $500.

Then, you can glue things like ribbons, sequins, little flowers, etc to them. Add some lace edging around the top, too, if you want.

Then, you can sell them individually, or in sets. You could also do them in color combinations of large colleges green silver or green white for Michigan State University, red silver or red white for Ohio State, etc.

That will get you more hits, too, if you put the college name in the title. The ornaments, spools of ribbon, and what not, won cost much, either, and you be able to charge $2 3 each for the ornaments. In the auctions, too, you could put down that you take custom orders if they want a specific color combo just list the bulb colors, and tell them what colors of ribbons/etc you have in stock, and charge $.50 $1 extra for ribbon/etc colors you don have in stock.

Funny Rob mentioned that, I have made a number of dreamcatchers, but would never dream of selling. They are gifts to present to honor special friendsl. What I have done though is buy bolt ends of cheap material, design of no concern, like an ounce, lol, of some good and cheap catnip. Make very small pillows, shaped or not and fill with cat nip. You could sell like 3 in a pack for 5 to 10 bucks no doubt, almost the entire investnent. Also neck bandana for dogs go very well, pennies to make and sell for 5 to 10 bucks!

I did make ornaments for my family one year. I took plain glass ornaments put sparkly ribbon in some. Some I just put paint in swirled it around.VERY IMPORTANT Tip the ornament over so that the open end is facing down any extra paint will run out. I used the tray they came in to hold them like this. Someone had suggested that I spray that faux stone paint into the ornaments so they looked like stone. This was a HUGE hit. I also put the year on each ornament. You are only limited by your imagination and certain size requirements when it comes to putting things in these clear glass ornaments. Good luck!!

I don know how crafty you are but if you can make something unique, attractive AND functional, you might find an audience on eBay. I closed my store down when the fees got too high, though. I now have a large surplus of hand decorated flip flops.

I just received as a gift a purse made from recycled chip bags. It actually not bad looking. The inside of the bag silver/foil was used for the strap and the outside was used for the body of the bag. It looks like strips were hand sewn or braided together in some fashion. I bet you could find instructions by Googling the net. I found instructions online for making bracelets out of soda pop tabs.

I don know if they have dollar stores in your state, but they are a virtual gold mine for ebayers. one of my personal tricks is to buy beaded jewelry and tear it apart and sell the components. One charm bracelet reaps 6 to 8 charms, plus the stripped bracelet, necklaces have the beads and then the clasps. and the journal idea someone had above they have tons at the dollar stores, you can fancy them up just a little and charge at least 5 dollars. Wander around the store to get ideas.

Keep SHIPPING in mind the bigger, bulkier the package has to be, the more it is going to cost to ship. And as someone stated they are getting picky about what we can charge for shipping.

Ornaments are a great idea but hard to package. You don want to spend a mint on boxes and peanuts and bubble wrap and all that and don forget to figure in your gas to the post office!!!!

Personally I am going crazy right now trying to update all the changes ebay is requiring us to make can no longer accept money orders and as of Oct 9 will remove your listings if it says you do.

Just went through and updated all my .99 cent stuff, you can no longer list for under $1 in your store they deleted almost 400 of my items. Now I have to retake pics and everything.

Sometimes they are a pain.

Good Luck, I hope I gave you a start to think about.

Anytime you can buy things in bulk and then break down and resell is good too!

Do some research on ebay search for acrylic bears or angels or some such and see what others are selling. my ID is beades4u if you want to look at some of my ideas, my best friend is penny2206 she is mostly into polymer clay things she sells the molds you can buy a couple molds and then make pendants or magnets or a ton of things to resell.

I am on a fixed income so have to be very frugal when searching for the things I sell. Buy from other ebayers say a strand of pearls or find a vintage strand at a flea market break it down into 20 bead packages or something like that. check your local goodwill or salvation army ask to see their broken jewelry ask if they save it for you I loved it when my daughter worked for goodwill still have bags of things to tear down!!!!.

Check the local resale shops and pick up nice little kids outfits and put them together and sell as sets these are always hot! Either focus on certain sizes or run the gamut of whatever is available. See if you can get they unsaleable / stained stuff cut into quilt squares and sell so many for so much.
